Since I’m going on vacation in Egypt, I thought it was a perfect time to share my tips on how to get your skin ready for the sun and by that I mean how to prepare your skin so that you have the most uniform and long lasting tan possible.

When I know that I’m going to be exposed a lot to the sun I start by exfoliating my face and body at least one week before. Don’t do it everyday because it might irritate your skin but try maybe every two days. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells and improves your blood circulation which makes your skin glow and can even on a long term reduce the appearance of stretch marks. By removing the dead skin cells, you will have an equal layer of skin everywhere meaning that you will get a uniformed tan but it also delays the process of pealing thus making your tan last a lot longer. Believe it or not but exfoliating your skin can start with waxing (shaving works too) because along with the hair, tiny skin cells come off too. I then like to use B sand facial exfoliant because I find that it’s a lot more abrasive than the other facial exfoliant which doesn’t really do anything. Not only that but the B sand mechanically exfoliates with its beads but also has fruits enzymes which after you leave it on your face for a while chemically exfoliates your skin. For my body, I have tried many exfoliant but I find that the most effective way (and it’s the cheapest) is to use Body Shop exfoliating body polisher skin towel. I exfoliate my skin everywhere and especially insist on the areas where I wax since it prevents ingrown hairs. The Body shop towel is very useful because you can exfoliate your back too.

The second step to prepping your skin is intense hydration. The dryer your skin the faster it will peal and the less healthy your tan will look. I personally moisturize my body on a regular basis but I like to extra moisturize by adding some sort of oil (coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil) during the days leading up to my vacation. Soap&Glory Smoothie Star buttercream is very rich and smells amazing. For my face, I use Hydraluran which has Hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 it’s weight in water.

Enjoy tanning xxx
